How we work

We start slowly, and we ask first

Deeper skin tones can mark after a breakout, strong heat or an exfoliant that was too much. So the first visit is a conversation, a patch test where one is needed and a gentle facial, and nothing new goes on your skin without telling you why.

  • A consultation before any peel or dermaplaning

  • A patch test before a new product or a peel

  • Sun care talked through at every visit

  • One change at a time, written down

The estheticians

Two estheticians, one client at a time

Ask for either when you book. Both do consultations and facials, and each has her own languages.

  • Bhumi Parekh, the owner and esthetician, in a green linen shirt, leaning on a wooden counter in a bright corridor

    Bhumi Parekh

    Esthetician and owner

    • Esthetician license · NJ Lic. 000000

Bhumi opened Mallow so clients could ask about their skin in the language they use at home. She does consultations, custom facials and surface peels. She speaks English, Gujarati and Hindi.

  • Novelette Campbell, an esthetician, in a white tunic, leaning against a stone wall in a bright hallway

    Novelette Campbell

    Esthetician

    • Esthetician license · NJ Lic. 000000

Novelette works slowly and asks about sun care before anything else. She does calm and custom facials, LED light and dermaplaning. She speaks English and Jamaican Patois.

What clients say

  • “Bhumi explained every step in Gujarati to my mother before we started, and my mother stayed in the room for the consultation. She understood all of it.”

    Saanvi P.
  • “Novelette asked what sunscreen I use before she asked about anything else. I left with a short list I could actually follow.”

    Malinda W.
  • “I called for my grandmother and the woman on the phone switched to Haitian Creole. We were booked in two minutes.”

Questions

Short answers before you book

Which languages do you speak?

English throughout. Bhumi speaks Gujarati and Hindi, and Novelette speaks Jamaican Patois. At the front, Shahnaz speaks Bengali and Hindi, Nidhi speaks Hindi and Punjabi, and Nadege speaks Haitian Creole and French. Tell us when you book and we'll put you with someone who speaks it.

Can I bring someone to translate or sit with me?

Yes. A family member is welcome to sit in on your consultation, to help with language or just to listen. During the facial, they wait in the front room, where there are chairs and tea.

Do I need a consultation first?

Yes, once, before your first facial, before any peel and before dermaplaning for the first time. If you come back after a long break, we start with a short check-in.

How do you plan a facial for deeper skin tones?

Slowly. Deeper skin tones can mark after a breakout, strong heat or an exfoliant that was too much, so a new product or a peel starts with a patch test, and we change one thing at a time. We talk through sun care at every visit and write down what we did.

How does pricing work?

Prices aren't printed on this site. Each esthetician sets her own, and the booking page shows the price when you choose a service, before you confirm.
